Career
choice is one of the most important factors for international students. Therefore
,we ask international students in ELICOS at Swinburne University about their
decision on career choice after university.
This survey
was completed by 15 students who come from 6 different countries. As a result, we cover some information related to our topic
such as factors that impact career decisions and how to achieve dream jobs,
especially we provide some tips on how to choose a career in the right way or make a plan for
that as it is crucial for all international students. Besides, we suggested
international students to avoid choosing quickly and do not idea for that
because it can make you feel disappointed and waste time to start again
Firstly, we have found that many international students
think that the influence of family plays an important role in their career
decision. They usually choose major and career path from high school so advice
from experienced and reliable people are essential, especially their family’s
members.( Singaravelu,H.,White,L.,& Bringaze 2015 This supports our recommendation that students should
discuss openly with their family member and receive advice from to get an
overview to start their career correctly.
Secondly, the result exhibited that some international
students paid attention to their hobbies, work environment and some of them
want to have a job with a high salary or prospective. Fatoki (2014) states that a lot of favorite
things with their career or work environment which is respected in the future
also can affect their decisions.This
help us recommendation that another way that can help them make a decision
effectively is recognizing their ablitily such as talents, communication. After
that, they should think about their hobbies because it motivates them to pursue
their dream. Furthermore, the work environment is also important as it helps them
stabilize their careers.
Last but not least, with the development of economic and a
large of working chances, 29% of international students follow a trend of design and 25% of them take an
interest in business. These are the key majors that create attention with them
(Singaravelu,H.,White,L.,& Bringaze 2015). Furthermore, they need to complete a course at university
to gain knowledge and skills and then expand information relate to their field
from a lot of experienced people but it is difficult for them and they also
need to have patience and high effort. This strengthens our recommendation that
internatonal students should concentrate on degrees and skills that help them to achieve their desire.
For example, they need to graduate at
university and at the same time try to learn effective skills such as English,
excel, communication.

Hi Tram, Yemima, Chhay, an Minh,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting your final post for this project. You have made some interesting recommendations and you've been able to link your recommendations and suggestions to some academic articles. Well done.
However, the post in general needs some attention. There are numerous verb-tense errors, spelling mistakes (disappointed, decision), punctuation errors (lack of commas and full stops). The last concluding sentence is also irrelevant and there is no reference list.
