Rationale of the survey

The topic of our survey is about career choice and International students, which is made for International students who are studying in EAP4 at Swinburne University of Technology.

As we grow up, life has been divided into several priorities to focus on. Career is a essential point which helps people set a reliable life and complete the target. As well as International students, they want to have a stable job with high salary but sometimes they do not know what they will take as a future career. That is one of the reasons why their mental health is getting worse when they study abroad, especially when they do not have support or guidance from their family and friends. As a results, the majority of students are wasting their time with wrong major and they are more likely unemployed in the future. I strongly highlight that career choice is one of the most critical problems that International Student have to face. Therefore, we decided to make a survey about career choice of the international students.

This topic is crucial for all International students. We provide some questions regarding gender, age, nationality and so on. Moreover, we will interview the students about how they choose their careers in the future.

Our topic focuses on what careers International students usually choose and which factors affect their decisions such as their abilities, hobbies, families, their study and work environment, common trends and others. We also want to figure out why they chose their courses at Swinburne University and if they are satisfied with their decisions.

Our expectation is to find out what influences their decisions the most. Based on the result, we will try to provide some recommendations on how to create a plan effectively for their future.

  1. Hi Tram, Yemima, Chhay and Minh,

Thanks for posting your rationale. It is mostly well-written and provides some interesting insight as to why you chose your topic, your expectations, why you are interested in it and some information about the questions you're going to ask. In addition to these points, it would have been good if you considered some potential difficulties or limitations within your survey. This level of detail will help you get really good marks.

In general, there are some articles and word form errors (unemployment). The set out of your rationale is also inconsistent: there are large gaps between paragraphs and different font sizes. You need to make it look appealing.

While some of your insights were interesting, others were a bit vague. Try to be more specific with your predictions and analysis during later stages of the project.

    Good start :)
